Women’s Soccer Soars Past Lock Haven

WEST CHESTER, PA – The West Chester women's soccer team hosted Lock Haven on Wednesday afternoon in a PSAC clash. West Chester used a strong second half to secure a 4-1 victory.
 
Lock Haven (5-7-1, 3-7-1) started the game out with a goal in the fifth minute, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to take an early lead.
 
West Chester (9-2-1, 9-2-1) bounced back after Madison Bowman (Cogan Station, PA / Williamsport) passed to Maggie Lena (Santa Monica, CA / Santa Monica / Marquette) in the 20th minute to tie the score 1-1 for the first half.
 
The Golden Rams brought the intensity in the second half after a corner kick from Erin Greiner (Manheim, PA / Manheim Central) created an opening for West Chester's offense, Kaitlynn Haughey (Philadelphia, PA / Penn Charter) settled the ball and passed to Bowman to secure the goal and take the lead 2-1.
 
With less than 10 minutes left in the match, Antonia Linus (Huntington Valley, PA / Penn Charter) crossed to Alyson Cutter (Warrington, PA / Central Bucks South) who finished to extend the lead 3-1.
 
Jenna Peters (Fairless Hills, PA / Pennsbury) finished off the match with a goal in the 87th minute off an assist from Cutter to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Golden Rams. 
 
The Golden Rams ended the game with a 12-8 advantage in shots and 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
 
West Chester goalkeeper Haley McGee (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland) made seven saves in the 90 minutes, while Lock Haven goalkeeper Kylie Auman made an impressive eight saves to slow the potent Golden Ram offense.
 
The Golden Rams head to Lancaster on Saturday to take on Millersville at 4:30 p.m.
