Men's Soccer Rolls Past Bloomsburg to Remain Unbeaten in PSAC Play

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following an electrifying OT win on the road at Shippensburg on Saturday evening, the West Chester men's soccer team returned home on Wednesday to host another PSAC East foe in Bloomsburg. West Chester got on the scoreboard early and took a commanding 3-0 lead before the halftime break to roll to the 3-0 victory and improve to 4-0-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in league play.

In the ninth minute, Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) opened the scoring after capitalizing on a defensive miscue by the Bloomsburg goalkeeper to give West Chester an early 1-0 lead.

Goitia extended the Golden Rams lead in the 20th minute on a similar play as he used a long through ball from Cooper Jackson (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) to get in behind the Bloomsburg defense and give the Golden Rams a commanding 2-0 lead.

In the 41st minute, Austin Eveland (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) gave West Chester a 3-0 lead following a rebound off a shot saved off the foot of Josh Daniels (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley) to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime lead.

West Chester ended the first half with a 8-4 edge in shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal while the Golden Rams and Huskies ended the first half with three corners each.

In the second half, Bloomsburg applied steady pressure but West Chester, led junior goalkeeper Daniel Good (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) who ended the game with five saves, withstood the Husky attack to earn the 3-0 victory.

At the end of the contest, West Chester held a 14-13 edge in shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal while Bloomsburg ended the contest with a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

West Chester will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at home against Lock Haven with that contest set to begin at 12 p.m.
