Meet Results

NEW YORK – West Chester's men's swimming & diving squads gave a much deeper New York University contingent all it could handle in a non-league dual meet Saturday afternoon inside the Palladium Athletic Facility before falling, 196-104.

Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) put up an outstanding time for this early in the season while winning the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 47.27 seconds. He placed second in the 50 free as well (21.75). Tyler Hall (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed third in the 50 free in 22.05.

Benjamin Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) picked up the only other individual win for the Golden Rams. He posted a season-best 1:56.00 to capture the 200 butterfly. Joel Dunnigan (York, Pa./Dallastown) was right behind him in second with a 1:56.06 in his collegiate debut in that event. Benner, Hall and Dunnigan were all part of the 400 free relay that ended the meet with a win. Maxwell Bachman (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was the other link in the relay that put up a time of 3 minutes, 09.99 seconds.

"We have a lot of contenders for those freestyle relays," WCU head coach Steve Mazurek said. "Everyone loves being a part of those competitions. There is a lot of positives to build upon."

West Chester didn't take first in the 100 fly. However, Gabe Laslo (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth Academy), Dunnigan and Dylan Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) went second, third and fourth to pick up points. Fink also placed second in the 100 backstroke, ahead of Logan Brockway (York, Pa./Dallastown) and Laslo, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

West Chester's men hit the pool again next Friday when the Golden Rams welcome Arcadia to the Graham Natatorium.
