BLOOMSBURG, PA –
Nick D'Amore (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti),
Mike Ferrara (Jamison, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Drew Jarmuz (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) each homered in the opener, and
Culver Hughes (Exton, Pa./East) struck out 11, as visiting West Chester split a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division baseball doubleheader at Litwhiler Field in Bloomsburg, Pa., Saturday afternoon. The Golden Rams won the opener, 7-2.
West Chester (6-2, 6-2 PSAC East) saw its eight-game winning streak come to a close in the second game as Bloomsburg (6-6, 6-6), trailing 5-4 in the fourth, scored five in the fourth, seven in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the nightcap away.
GAME ONE
- Senior Justin Horn (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) hit a RBI double in the first.
- D'Amore hit a three-run shot in the second.
- Jarmuz hit a two-run homer, and Ferrara added a solo blast in the fourth.
- Hughes k'd 11, going the distance for his second win of the season. He scattered five hits and yielded just two runs. He walked two and hit a batter.
GAME TWO
- Ferrara went 3-for-4 with five RBI in the second game. He homered and doubled twice.
West Chester returns to Maple Zone in Aston, Pa., for a doubleheader against Shepherd University on Thursday afternoon.
