MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The West Chester University softball team (16-7) was back in action Saturday afternoon against Millersville (17-13) at Seaber Softball Field. The Golden Rams improve their overall season record to 16-7 and are now 12-7 in the conference.
GAME ONE
- The Golden Rams were the first to get on the board in game one with a single up the middle from senior Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) in the top of the first.
- The Marauders answered in the bottom of the first when Faith Willenbrock reached on a fielding error to tie the game 1-1.
- In the top of the fifth, senior Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) singled through the left side and grab two RBIs for the Golden Rams.
- Millersville's Alyssa Stover singled to left field in the bottom of the fifth to bring the score to 3-2.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Gaby D'Ottavio homered to left center field to tie the game again at 3-3.
- The Golden Rams scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run from Stump that grabbed 3 RBIs.
- In the bottom of the seventh before ending the game, Willenbrock homered for the Marauders to make the final score, 6-4.

GAME TWO
- Stump opened up game two as she started game one with a single through the left side in the bottom of the first to put WCU on the board 1-0.
- Garber scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third to grab a run for the Golden Rams. Senior Jamie Klemas (South Brunswick, NJ./South Burnswick) single through left side to end the third inning up 3-0.
- In the top of the fourth inning West Chester scored four runs on a double to left field form Garber and a single up the middle from Stump.
- Millersville's Aleese Angelo homered to left center field for 2 RBIs and Stover single to center field for two more RBIs, ending the inning with a WCU 7-4 lead.
- Sophomore Haleigh Karcher (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) homered to right center field in the top of the seventh to grab 2 RBIs and end the game, 9-4.

GAME ONE| INSIDE THE STATS
- Freshman Mary Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) pitched the first five innings for the Golden Rams and threw four strikeouts.Â
- Senior Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) closed the last two innings and improved her season record to 6-2 on the season.
- Stump tallied 4 RBIs in the game while Garber had 2 RBIs for West Chester.Â

GAME TWO| INSIDE THE STATS
- Pitching for the Golden Rams was split between freshman Summer Williams (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) and Hanshaw who threw a no hitter for three innings and one strikeout. Hanshaw improves to 7-2 on the season from the mound.Â
- Freshman Asia Barnard (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and sophomore Grace Aguilar (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) both stole a base for West Chester in game two.
- Klemas adds another RBI to her leading total of 27 on the season while Stump has 24 RBIs behind her in second on the team.

The Golden Rams are back on the road on Tuesday, April 20 at East Stroudsburg for a doubleheader. Games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
