WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's softball team split a doubleheader at home on Tuesday afternoon against East Stroudsburg. The Golden Rams came up short in game one, 7-4 but were able to win game two, 5-4.

West Chester improves to 17-9 overall and 13-9 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division on the season.

GAME ONE
- The Warriors were the first to score in the top of the first on a wild pitch and put them ahead 1-0.
- East Stroudsburg scored another run in the top of third on a reach on a fielder's choice by Riley Vicendese. Sofia Cecchin grabbed an RBI from a ground out to shortstop and to end the inning ahead 3-0.
- The Warriors scored three more runs in the top of the fourth on a single up the middle by Vicendese and Molly Nies reaching on an error by second base. They ended the inning in lead 6-0.
- The Golden Rams capitalized on a single through the right side by sophomore Grace Aguilar (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) grabbing an RBI for WCU. Fifth year Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) doubled through the left side for one more RBI in the bottom of the fifth to make the score, 6-2.
- In the top of the seventh, MacKenzie Lewis hit a home run to left field and extend the Warriors lead, 7-2.
- For WCU in the bottom of the seventh, sophomore Kate Rittenbaugh (Donaldson, Pa./Pine Grove)and brought two runs in before ending the game, 7-4.

INSIDE THE STATS |Â GAME ONE
- Senior Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) pitched five innings and five strikeouts for the Golden Rams.
- Aguilar, Garber, and senior Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) all had two hits on the game.

GAME TWO
- West Chester started on top in game two with a run from sophomore Haleigh Karcher (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) on a wild pitch to give the Golden Rams a lead for the first time Tuesday afternoon, 1-0.
- ESU's Morgan Walsh singled and grabbed an RBI in the top of the third to tie the game 1-1.
- The Golden Rams answered in the bottom of the third with a single from Garber and double up the middle from Stump to end the inning ahead, 4-1.
- In the top of the fifth the Warriors were able to tie the game, 4-4 on two doubles from Katelyn Houser and Rachel Seiverd.
- A fly out to centerfield from Garber allowed the Golden Rams to get the win and end game two, 5-4.
INSIDE THE STATS | GAME TWO
- Freshman Mary Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic)  closed out the last two innings of the game for the Golden Rams with three strikeouts and improving to 8-5 on the season.
- Garber and Aguilar each had a stolen base for the Golden Rams.

West Chester softball is on the road on Friday afternoon against Kutztown for a doubleheader. Games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for the Golden Rams.
