WEST CHESTER, PA - West Chester swept visiting Wilmington University (Del.) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader on South Campus. The Golden Rams won game one, 7-5, and then took the second game in only five innings, 8-0.

West Chester (13-4) scored a combined 15 runs and 21 hits in the doubleheader on Wednesday. Despite the sweep, Wilmington (5-7) catcher Annie Davila broke the school's all-time record for career home runs.

Fifth-year senior
Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) went a combined 5-for-6 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored in the twinbill.
Mary Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) (5-2) tossed a three-hit shutout in game two. Senior
Jen Hanshaw (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) improved to 5-1 with the win in game one. She struck out three.

GAME ONE
- Sophomore Trisha Kopinetz (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) hit a sacrifice fly to put the Golden Rams on the board, 1-0.
- In the top of the second, the Wildcats scored on a fielder's choice to tie the game, 1-1. Later, a double by Arianna Millan brought in two more runs to stretch the lead to, 3-1.
- Davila hit her record-breaking home run in the top of the third to advance the Wildcats, 4-1.
- A five-run third put the Golden Rams in front for good as the hosts took advantage of two errors on the same play from Wildcats' center fielder.
- Senior Annamarie Hartman (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) singled down the left line for the first RBI of the frame. Senior Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) then singled to center field where the ball was misplayed and got away from the center fielder. She recovered to throw the ball to third base in an attempt to get Hartman. However, nobody was covering the bag for the Wildcats and the ball sailed into foul territory, allowing Hartman to score and Stump to race around to third. Stump got one RBI on the play, knocking in Jaime Klemas from second on the initial single up the middle. Grace Aguilar (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) singled home Stump, before Emily Kim (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) doubled home Aguilar with the fifth run of the inning.
- Hartman got things going again in the fourth with another single up the middle on the day to extend the hosts' lead to, 7-4.
- Wilmington's Alyssa Velasquez homered to left field with two outs in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring.

GAME TWO
- The Golden Rams got on the board during the bottom of the second with a single from sophomore Madison Melvin (Tabernacle, NJ./Seneca).Â
- Garber tripled to grab the RBI and advance the score to 2-0.
- Kopinetz singled down the left line for an RBI and end the inning up, 3-0.
- The bottom of the fourth opened with a single and RBI from Garber. Senior Jamie Klemas (South Brunswick, NJ./South Brunswick) reached on a fielding error to score an unearned run for West Chester.
- Hartman reached on another fielding error to push the score to 6-0.
- Stump singled to left field, which extended WCU's lead to 7-0.
- In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Abby Penjuke (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) hit a sacrifice fly to right to seal the deal for the Golden Rams, 8-0.Â
