West Chester Football Picked Second in PSAC Preseason Poll

LOCK HAVEN, PA. – West Chester was picked to finish second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) preseason coaches poll released Wednesday afternoon as part of the conference's digital media day.
 
Shepherd earned the top spot in the Eastern Division's preseason poll. The Rams earned six of the possible eight first-place votes from the league's head coaches. West Chester, slated second, received one first-place vote while Kutztown, picked third, received the other.
 
The Golden Rams are coming off a 9-3 mark in 2019 and a 5-2 league record in which they finished third in the regular season. They will look to stay solid defensively as at the end of 2019, the Golden Rams led the PSAC in pass defense allowing just 193.1 passing yards per game.
 
"We are extremely excited to be getting ready for practice and for another season," 19-year football mentor Bill Zwaan said. "The players are actually looking forward to camp, which should tell you everything you need to know about how they feel having not played for a while. There are many obstacles and adjustments to overcome. We will be prepared for most and will do what we need to do to make this season happen.
 
"We feel like we have a good team, and I am looking forward to the players reporting Sunday. I have been doing this for a long time, and I am probably as excited for this season as any in a long, long time after having missed last year."
 
Reigning PSAC East Champion Kutztown was picked third in the East while Bloomsburg was fourth. Shippensburg was fifth. East Stroudsburg came in sixth followed by Millersville and Lock Haven, respectively.
