LOCK HAVEN, PA - Sophomore defensive lineman
Michael Gobora (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week it was announced Monday morning. It is the first such honor in the young interior lineman's career.
Gobora tied for the team lead with eight tackles in the Golden Rams' win over Mercyhurst Saturday. He registered five tackles for a loss, including 3.5 sacks while forcing a fumble as well. His five tackles for a loss is tied for third most in a single game in school history while his 3.5 sacks is tied for fifth most in a game. Gobora led a defensive effort that tied another school single-game record with 10 sacks on the afternoon.
West Chester (1-1) hosts Edinboro (0-1) Saturday in the team's home opener of 2021. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at John A. Farrell Stadium.
