MILLERSVILLE, PA – West Chester scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put away host Millersville and claim a 42-14 victory on the road in the conference opener for both schools.
Phil Poquie (Philadelphia, PA/Haverford School) rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown while
Seth Degree (Philadelphia, PA/West Catholic) caught three passes for 84 yards and a score – a 40-yard strike from quarterback
Shane Dooley (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge). Dooley finished the day 9-for-22 for 181 yards and three TDs.
West Chester (3-1, 1-0 PSAC) got after Millersville's four quarterbacks early and often, registering eight sacks and a pair of QB hurries. Millersville (1-3, 0-1) hung around until the final 15 minutes, finding themselves trailing by just two scores entering the final quarter.
Jalen Jackson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) caught a 24-yard touchdown pass with just under six minutes left to play, and QB
Desman Jackson (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) scampered 30-yards with 1:48 to go to salt away the contest.
Jackson Taylor (Glenside, PA/Abington) registered nine tackles, seven of the solo variety, including two for a loss.
Michael Gobora (Newtown, PA/Pennsbury) posted six tackles, including 3.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks.
West Chester returns home next Saturday for Homecoming Weekend against Bloomsburg. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
