WEST CHESTER, PA – The West Chester women's soccer team continued its strong start to the season as the Golden Rams tallied up another win for their unbeaten record in a 2-0 win against Millersville Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (5-0-1) set the tone of the match after Jacqueline Hug (West Chester, PA / Unionville) crossed to Maggie Lena (Santa Monica, CA / Santa Monica / Marquette) to send the ball in front of Dani Cady (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury), who tapped the ball home in the fifth minute of play to give the Golden Rams the early 1-0 lead.
The first half ended with West Chester leading 1-0 after a steady trading of possession throughout much of the remainder of the opening half.
In the 89th minute, Millersville fouled Jenna Peters (Fairless Hills, PA / Pennsbury) in the penalty box, to give Peters a penalty kick opportunity, which she converted to give the Golden Rams a 2-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Hayley McGee (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland) worked hard between the pipes making three saves in her 90 minutes of work.
Millersville (2-3-1) took eight shots while goalkeeper, Reagan Kolinski, made two saves of her own to limit the potent West Chester offense.
The Golden Rams head to Shippensburg University to take on the Raiders next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
