West Chester Men Fall To UPenn, 203-95

WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University's Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) won the 50-yard freestyle and helped the 200 freestyle relay to a win as the host Golden Rams dropped a non-league decision to visiting Division I Pennsylvania, 203-95, Friday night at Graham Natatorium.
 
Benner swam the 50 free in 21.17 seconds – just .14 faster than teammate Devin Metzgar (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus), who was second. Metzgar placed second in the 100 free with Benner right behind him.
 
Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) earned a pair of runner-up performances in the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke. Collin Pettit was second in the 1000 free.
 
Diver Carter Smith placed third in both the 1-meter and 3m springboard competitions.  
 
The UPenn meet was the final regular-season competition for the Golden Rams and served as the team's senior meet. West Chester will now begin training for the 2022 PSAC Women's Swimming Championships February 16-19 in York, Pa.
