MILLERSVILLE, PA – Millersville converted a penalty stroke with just over one minute left to play in the game as the host Marauders defeated visiting West Chester, 2-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference field hockey tilt at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Wednesday evening.

West Chester (8-1, 2-1 PSAC) dropped its first contest of the season while Millersville (9-1, 2-0) moved into a tie for first place in the conference standings as a result of the victory.

West Chester struck first in the 21st minute when Dara Spavlik (Hockessin, Del./Conrad) banged home a second-chance opportunity through traffic to put the Golden Rams on top, 1-0. It was the back's fourth goal of the season.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Millersville picked things up after halftime and earned the equalizer on a tally from Kate Strickland in the 48th minute. Kristin Strijdom converted a penalty stroke in the 59th minute to seal the upset for the host Marauders.
