WEST CHESTER, PA – Shippensburg scored the game-winning goal with 62 seconds remaining in the game en route to a 2-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) field hockey tilt between the top two teams in the country Wednesday afternoon at brisk Vonnie Gros Field.
Shippensburg (10-1, 4-1 PSAC) jumps percentage points ahead of East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Millersville with its fourth conference win against just one loss. West Chester (9-2, 2-2) falls into a tie for fifth place in the league standings. East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Millersville all have 3-1 records after four league games.
The Raiders' Mya Kemp banged home a beautiful cross from Valu Paul with 1:02 remaining to put the visitors up, 2-1. West Chester had tied it on a goal in the third quarter by
Paige Wolfe (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East).
Shippensburg struck first in the second quarter when Agus Garibaldi deflected a shot from Tess Jedeloo into the back of the cage.
