West Chester Concludes Season With 36-27 Victory Over Clarion

CLARION, PA – Bishop Shanahan graduate, Cooper Jordan (Downingtown, Pa.) was 13-for-19 for 237 yards and two touchdowns to lead visiting West Chester to a 36-27 victory over host Clarion in the 2022 season finale inside Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (7-4) blocked a potential game-tying 44-yard field goal with :03 left in the game, and Oscar Uduma (Folcroft, Pa./Msgr. Bonner & Prendie) returned it 66 yards for a score as time expired, to cap the win versus Clarion (3-8).

The Golden Rams engineered an 11-play drive at the end of the third quarter and an 8-play drive in the fourth that each produced a short field goal from Sean Henry (Reading, Pa./Exeter) pushing the guests' lead to 10 (30-20). Clarion answered with a quick TD drive of its own with 11 minutes left in the game that pulled the home team to within a field goal.

That's the way the game stayed until Clarion took control of the ball at it's own 19-yard line with 1:51 left. The Golden Eagles went on an 11-play drive down to the Golden Rams' 27 where West Chester called timeout with three ticks left and Clarion sending its field goal unit out onto the field.

Senior DB Sterlen Barr (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) came off the edge and blocked Jarrett Esposito's field goal attempt as time ran off the clock. Uduma scooped it up and scampered 66 yards to put an exclamation point on the win.

Junior LB Jackson Taylor (Glenside, Pa./Abington) led the Golden Rams' defense with 10 tackles, including one sack and one QB hurry. He also forced a fumble in the game.

RS-Sr., RB Phil Poquie (Haverford, Pa./Havertown) ran for a game-high 122 yards, including a 54-yard TD run in his final college football game. Jordan completed his 13 passes to seven different receivers in the win. Rahiem Bowens (Lansdowne, Pa./Penn Wood) and Mari Wright (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) caught TD passes.
