No. 16 West Chester Splits Twinbill on the Road at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, PABraeden Fausnaught (Danville, Pa./Danville) threw 5.2 innings in the opener to lead visiting West Chester to an 8-3 victory in game one of its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader against Bloomsburg at Litwhiler Field Saturday. The Huskies rebounded with a 13-1 win in the night cap.

West Chester (17-4, 6-2 PSAC East) rode a balanced attack that saw seven of the nine hitters in the order record a hit and eight of the nine score a run in the opener. Bloomsburg (15-10-1, 7-3-1) scored 13 runs on 13 hits in game two to take that contest.

Fausnaught (5-0) scattered seven hits over 5.2 innings, yielding three runs. He walked four and struck out 11.

Huskies' game two starter, Jared Marshman (6-1), continued to have the Golden Rams' number dating back to the PSAC Tournament last year. He lasted 6.1 innings, surrendered just one run on six hits and struck out 10 without walking a batter. Marshman tossed eight innings of two-run ball against West Chester in the quarterfinals a year ago, leading Bloomsburg to a 5-2 win en route to the Huskies' second consecutive conference crown. He k'd seven in that playoff tilt at Maple Zone.

Zack Wright (Columbus, N.J./No. Burlington County Regional) went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of stolen bases in the game one win. Luke Cantwell (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) knocked in a pair of runs. Mike Ferrara (Jamison, Pa./Archbishop Wood) hit a two-run double, and J.R. Gifford (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) hit a two-run home run, his fifth of the year, in the third.

West Chester and Bloomsburg will conclude their three-game season series on Monday at 2 p.m. following the postponement of the third game on Sunday due to expected rain overnight and into Sunday.
