Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 20 Women's Soccer Rolls Past Lock Haven

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-Faith Matter (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) scored a goal and provided a pair of assists to help lead No. 20 West Chester (4-0-0, 3-0-0) to a 3-0 victory over Lock Haven (3-1-1, 1-1-1) on Rockwell Field on Saturday afternoon.

West Chester applied heavy pressure to Lock Haven throughout the first half, eventually outshooting the Bald Eagles by a 9-4 margin through the opening 45 minutes.

Despite the shooting advantage, the game appeared as if it would have the opportunity to go the halftime break locked at 0-0 before Emily Deluisi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) buried a flying header off a Matter corner, in nearly the same spot, which the Bald Eagles keeper had just saved moments earlier to give West Chester a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute ahead of the halftime break. In the 60th minute, Matter got a goal of her own using an assist from Kaitlynn Haughey (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) to give West Chester a commanding 2-0 lead.
West Chester got one more goal in the 83rd minute when reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week Alyson Cutter (Warrington, Pa./C.B. South) scored a header goal of her own off an assist from Matter to give West Chester a comfortable 3-0 lead, which the Golden Rams would go on to win by.

West Chester ended the game with a commanding 20-7 advantage in shots and a 13-5 lead in shots on goal while also holding a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks, two of which led to goals for the Golden Rams in the victory.

Hayley McGee (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had another strong day in goal, making five saves to pick up her second shutout of the season while her counterpart made 10 big saves in an attempt to slow the potent Golden Ram offense.
