Men's Soccer Earns 3-1 Victory over Shepherd

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week Trevor Looby (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) scored the eventual game-winner midway through the first half to help lead West Chester (6-1-0, 3-0-0) to a 3-1 victory over Shepherd (1-4-2, 0-3-0) in a PSAC Eastern Division clash on Wednesday afternoon.

West Chester started off the first half dominating offensively its guests, taking two shots in the first six minutes. Kendall Walkes (West Chester, PA/B Reed Henderson) took a penalty kick off a Shepherd foul in the eighth minute to put the Golden Rams on the board 1-0.
Within seconds of each other, Frankie Taylor (Delran, NJ/Delran) and Craig Potts (Stewartstown, PA/Kennard-Dale) took back-to-back shots that tested Shepherd's defense but the Rams blocked the chances to keep the score locked at 1-0.

Trevor Looby (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) buried the ball to the back of the net after picking off a pass in the midfield, scoring in the 34th minute to double West Chester's lead 2-0.
Shepherd answered back in the 59th minute after Andrew West took an assist from Tyler Hollis to mark the Rams' lone goal.

Taylor extended the lead with a shot from low center off a pass from Jason Goldfeder (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) in the 61st minute to lift West Chester 3-1.

West Chester took the lead on corners 7-1 and  out-shot Shepherd 23-8 in the 90 minutes, while Aiden Sommers (Blackwood, N.J/Triton Regional) made four saves in the match as did his counterpart from Shepherd.

The Golden Rams will be back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Bloomsburg to take on the Huskies at 3:30 p.m.
