Box Score BLOOMSBURG, PA – West Chester University's men's tennis squad opened up its 2022-23 campaign with its fall slate on Friday at the ITA Regionals at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on the campus of Bloomsburg University.
In the doubles competition, unseeded and unranked
Andre Zequeira (Humacao, Puerto Rico) and
Lucas Henke (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall Heath) gave top-seeded Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini of Edinboro all they could handle. However, the Golden Rams' duo fell by a score of 7-5, after nearly pulling off the upset of the day at the tournament. There are no consolation draws in the doubles competition this year at ITA's.
Felix Weber (Wolfenbuettel, Germany), playing only singles, dropped a straight-set decision to the seven-seed from Bluefield State Friday afternoon. Zequeira and Henke each fell to their opponents from University of Charleston (WV) in straight sets as well.
The men will be back on the court for the PSAC Championships right back here at Bloomsburg the first three days of October.
