Men's Swimming and Diving Opens 2023 Slate at Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fl.- West Chester returned to competition for the first time in over a month with a quad meet against Division II foes Nova Southeastern and Lynn, along with Indian River State College, as part of the team's annual training trip in Florida. West Chester fell to Nova Southeastern by a 156-104 final but defeated Lynn by a final of 195-66.

West Chester started the afternoon off with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay as the team of Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown), Gabe Laslo (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth Academy), and Devin Metzger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) combined for a time of 1 minute and 33.08 seconds as the top Division II program in the event.

Fink followed this up with a second-place finish in the 100 back, registering a time of 51.49 before Laslo finished third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.97.  Fink also finished fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 50.90
Metzger continued his afternoon with a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 46.25, while Benner was fourth in 47.06.

Benner finished second in the 100-breast with a time of 57.88, while Metzger took second in the 50 free with a time of 21.09, with teammate Tyler Hall (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) in fourth with a time of 21.36.

Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) led the way for West Chester in the 1000 free, finishing second in a time of 9:31.77, while Collin Petit (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) joined him in the top-five with a time of 9:42.65.

Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) led the way in the 200 free, finishing in fifth with a time of 1:44.43, while Max Bachman (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was just behind him with a time of 1:45.44 to finish sixth. Nagy also finished sixth in the 200 back with a time of 1:55.82.

Logan Brockway (York, Pa./Dallastown) led a contingent of Golden Rams in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.12 to finish fifth.

The 200 free relay team of Benner, Hall, Fink, and Metzer concluded the day for West Chester, finishing second in 1:24.46.

West Chester returns to action next Friday at Penn beginning at 6 p.m. before hosting NYU on South Campus next Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
