Women's Track and Field Competes in Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze; Hummel Sets New Indoor Program Record in Pole Vault

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) set a new program record in the pole vault with a mark of 12 feet to capture first place and improve upon her PSAC mark from earlier in the year to help lead the West Chester women's track and field team on Friday afternoon at the Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze.

Hummel has won the pole vault in each of her three meets so far this season, continuously improving upon her mark from each meet, tying the program record a week ago inside the Armory before breaking the record this week inside Ocean Breeze. Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) finished ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 10-6 1/2, which also served as PSAC Qualifying mark. 

Zhayria Washington (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 38 feet 2 ¾ inches, while Chloe Mattie (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) was 19th with a mark of 32-7 ¾ and Adrianna Bryant (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Central) was close behind in 21st with a mark of 32-4 ½. Washington also led the way in the weight throw with a mark of 40-11, which was good enough for 12th, while Sydney Dolbier (Stafford Springs, Ct./Stafford) took 15th with a mark of 38-3. Olivia Vajda (Bethlehem, Pa./Northampton) also set a new PR in the weight throw with a mark of 33-9.

Addison Gormley (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) was seventh in the high jump with a mark of 4-11, matching her personal-best mark from a week ago.

Katie Pieslak led the way in the long jump with a mark of 15-7 ½ while also taking fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-8 ¾, which is both a PSAC Qualifier and a new personal best.

Sandra Jackson (Bristol, Pa./Harry S. Truman) took sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.99 seconds to help lead West Chester on the track. Allie Amin (Reading, Pa./Wyomissing) was 25th in the 500 with a time of 1 minute and 28.33 seconds, while Gabby Curtis set a new personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:03.37. Ava Medici (Garnet Valley, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) also set a new PR in the 400 by 2.5 seconds with a time of 1:04.45.

Jackson was also the fastest Golden Ram across the line in the 200, clocking a time of 26.41 seconds to take 14th in what was also a personal-best performance for her in this event.
Joli Golembiewski (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) led West Chester in the 800 with a indoor personal-best time of 2:36.94.

West Chester took fifth in the 4x800 relay, clocking a time of 10:30.128 as the top Division II finisher in the field. West Chester also finished ninth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:14.99

West Chester will be back in action next weekend at the Bison Open and Multi next Friday and Saturday in Lewisburg.
