Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Rolls Past Shepherd; 3-0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V.- Jack Dieffendefer (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) scored twice to lead the West Chester University men's soccer team (8-2-2, 5-1-1) to a 3-0 road victory over Shepherd (2-7-2, 1-5-1) on Wednesday afternoon.

Dieffendefer continued his recent hot streak on Wednesday afternoon, scoring his first goal of the game in the 29th minute off an assist from Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) before notching his second goal of the day in the 41st minute off a feed from Phil Udo-Inyang (Havertown, Pa./Haverford).

These two tallies, combined with a 9-0 lead in shots through the first half of play, allowed the visiting Golden Rams to carry a commanding 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

Out of the break, West Chester got back to work quickly, notching its third and final goal of the game in the 51st minute when Andrew Markopoulos (Drexel Hill, Pa./Msgr. Bonner & Prendie) used a pass from Owen Slack (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) to extend the lead to 3-0.

Shepherd increased its offensive pressure in the second half, taking five shots, including four shots on goal along with a pair of corners, but Daniel Good (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) was equal to the task, making four saves to preserve the shutout.

West Chester ended the game with a 22-5 lead in shots and a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal to go along with an 8-2 lead in corner kicks in the wire-to-wire victory.

For Good, this victory carried a bit of extra-special meaning for the senior keeper as he moved into a tie for second on the all-time win chart, matching Sean Gablehouse's (1998-01) 39 career victories, while moving just one win away from tying the record of 40, currently held by Andrew Shafer (40-28-2; 2001-04).

For the Rams, Christian Blazes worked hard in goal, making six big saves to slow the Golden Rams offense and keep his team in the match throughout the afternoon.
