WEST CHESTER, PA –
Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) continued her torrid streak with a goal and an assist as host West Chester topped visiting Frostburg State, 3-1, at rain-soaked Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (8-3) got on the board early in the first minute of the game when Miller scored her 16th of the season. Frostburg State (7-5) got within a goal at 2-1 late in the first quarter, but could not penetrate the Golden Rams' defense again.
Miller took two shots right on the doorstep that Frostburg State goalkeeper Zoe Barnes stuffed, before she finally lifted one up over the sprawled out goalie 56 seconds into the contest.
Adriana Palumbo (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) tipped in a pass from Miller 13 minutes later to double the lead, before Frostburg tallied its lone goal 28 seconds later to make it a 2-1 game at the end of the first quarter.
Cameron Smith (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) notched her first of the season with 30 seconds left in the first half for what proved to be the final score of the game.
Alina Burger (Koenigs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany) made two saves in the win. Barnes made 15 saves for Frostburg State.
West Chester returns to Vonnie Gros Field on Wednesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference showdown with Millersville.
