LOCK HAVEN, Pa.-The West Chester University women's volleyball team returned to the court on Saturday evening at Lock Haven, looking to bounce back from a 3-0 setback at the hands of Bloomsburg a night ago. West Chester battled throughout but eventually fell to Lock Haven in five sets by a 3-2 (25-23, 12-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-9) final.
After dropping a back-and-forth first set, West Chester answered back quickly in the second, rolling to 25-12 victory over Lock Haven behind an 11-2 run early in the set, which took the Golden Rams lead from 4-3 to 15-5 in an instant.
The third set was a much tighter affair, similar to the first set, as the two sides traded points, but West Chester earned a 26-24 victory to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Lock Haven started the fourth set on a 7-3 run, eventually earning a 25-20 fourth-set victory to force a decisive fifth set.
In the fifth set, West Chester and Lock Haven split the first 10 points before Lock Haven went on a 3-0 run to grab an 8-5 lead, riding this advantage to a 15-9 victory over the Golden Rams.
Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) led the team in kills with 14, while
CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) chipped in 10 of her own to go along with a team-high three aces from
Sydney Heffner (Bath, Pa./Northampton). In addition to her team-high three aces, Heffner also led the team in digs, finishing with 20, while
Jamie Byrne (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) came away with 13 of her own, along with 16 assists in the setback.
Megan St. Jean (Eaton, Co./Eaton) led the team in assists on Saturday night, finishing with a team-high 23 as one of two Golden Rams in double figures.
Reagan Irons led Lock Haven in kills, finishing with 19, while Evie Jane Rembold added 14 of her own in the five-set victory. Kelly Gaston led the team in assists, finishing with 47, while also racking up 12 digs, second only to teammate Natalie Acevedo, who finished the match with 20 digs and a pair of aces.

West Chester will look to halt its losing streak on Wednesday night against Chestnut Hill inside Hollinger Field House before heading back out on the road next weekend, traveling to Shippensburg next Friday night and Shepherd next Saturday.
