Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Top-Ranked West Chester Runs Away From No. 11 ESU, 16-5

WEST CHESTER, PAJulia Littlewood (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) each scored four goals as newly anointed No. 1 West Chester stymied No. 11 East Stroudsburg all afternoon en route to a convincing 16-5 victory at Vonnie Gros Field Tuesday.

West Chester (7-0, 3-0 PSAC East) remains unbeaten on the season as well as in league play and maintains its half-game lead on Kutztown in the Eastern Division standings. East Stroudsburg (5-2, 1-1) dropped its first league contest of the year.

Littlewood's four-goal outing tied her career high from a year ago. Barnett added seven draw controls and three ground balls to her four-goal game. However, fifth-year senior Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) made a triumphant return to the lineup with a game-high seven points (2G, 5A). She missed West Chester's game at Shippensburg last Saturday.

Reigning PSAC East defensive player of the week, Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), was credited with seven saves, including a pair on All-America midfielder, Emily Mitarotonda, on free position attempts in the fourth quarter. West Chester's defensive wall in unison with Gorr limited the high-scoring All-American to just one goal and one assist on five shots. All five of those were on goal, but just one of them found the back of the net.

Kiki Fitzpatrick scored East Stroudsburg's other four goals in the game.

East Stroudsburg took just 16 shots in the contest, 12 of them on cage. West Chester's stout defense was a big reason for that. The Golden Rams' suffocating rides was also responsible for a 13-for-18 effort by the Warriors on clears. West Chester caused 11 turnovers by ESU on the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Golden Rams won 17 of 25 draws as well. The 11-goal differential was the largest margin of victory for West Chester against ESU since an identical score in 2019. The Warriors had won four of the last five tilts in the overall series entering Tuesday, but the Golden Rams halted their modest two-game win streak in the series.

Kendall DiCamillo (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) caused a team-best three turnovers and scooped up four ground balls.

Hanna Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) finished the day with a hat trick and an assist. Taylor O'Brien (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) scored a pair of goals, and Brenna Smith (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) started off the scoring with the first marker of the game.

West Chester returns to Vonnie Gros Field on Saturday when Bloomsburg pays a visit at 1 p.m.
