WEST CHESTER, PA –
Gabe Rappa (Paulsboro, N.J./Neumann-Goretti) pitched seven strong innings, and
Joe Kaleck (Southampton, Pa./Neshaminy) went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI to lead homestanding West Chester to a 12-5 victory over Wilmington (Del.) at Serpico Stadium Wednesday.
West Chester (17-6) scored in six of the eight innings in which it batted, jumping out in front early to a 5-0 lead after two. That was all Rappa would need on a day that saw him silence the Wildcats' bats. He scattered seven hits and allowed just two runs to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Evan Profy (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
John DeMucci (Swarthmore, Pa./Msgr. Bonner & Prendie) also was 3-for-5 at the plate for the Golden Rams who picked up 15 hits on the day.
West Chester begins a weekend three-game series against Salem University at Serpico Stadium on Friday. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
