CARY, NC - Augustana (S.D.) scored one run in the first, two in the third and then one each in the seventh and ninth to down West Chester University, 5-1, at the U.S. National Baseball Training Center in Cary, N.C. Sunday morning.
Ryan DeHaven (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) pitched well in his start against the Vikings. He allowed four runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. West Chester (8-3) just could not get anything going at the plate.
The Golden Rams tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first when
J.R. Gifford (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) reached on an error, and
Evan Profy (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) scored from third.
West Chester opens PSAC East play this coming weekend with a three-game series against Shippensburg.
