No. 1 West Chester Clinches PSAC East With Win Over Kutztown

WEST CHESTER, PAHannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) scored six goals, and Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) added another five as top-ranked West Chester clinched the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title with a victory over visiting Kutztown Wednesday afternoon.

West Chester (16-0, 11-0 PSAC East) claimed its fifth Eastern Division crown under head coach Ginny Martino. Ironically, the Golden Rams have finished in first place, or at least a tie for first place, all five times that the PSAC has split into divisions during Martino's tenure on the sidelines. With one PSAC East game left on the 2023 slate, West Chester is a combined 53-1 against Eastern Division opposition in those five years.

Lindsay Monigle (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) scored a goal and added five assists while Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) posted a hat trick and added a pair of assists off the bench in a game that was halted for 51 minutes due to a weather delay. The game stalled with 3:35 left in the second quarter and West Chester leading 14-3. However, that did not slow down the Golden Rams, who outscored the Golden Bears, 8-2, after the stoppage.

Grace Frasso (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) picked up a career-high 10 draw controls, tying her for seventh most in a single game in school history. She added six ground balls as well.

Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made 11 saves in earning her 16th win of the season in the cage.

West Chester travels to Millersville on Saturday for the regular-season finale at Biemesderfer Stadium at 1 p.m.
