BLOOMSBURG, PA – Host Bloomsburg scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings while scoring the first 11 runs of the game en route to a 16-5 victory over visiting West Chester Friday afternoon.
Bloomsburg (13-11, 7-6 PSAC East) scored 16 runs on 20 hits and clubbed four home runs in the win. West Chester (19-9, 6-4) put up a five-spot in the seventh, but it was not enough.
Huskies starter, Jared Marshman (4-1) improved to 3-0 against West Chester in his college career. He tossed 6.1 innings, yielding three earned runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out six. In four appearances against the Golden Rams – three as a starter – Marshman has struck out 29 batters in 24.1 innings. He has a 3.33 ERA versus the Purple & Gold to boot. He has won all three starts opposite West Chester, including a PSAC Tournament win in 2021.
Evan Profy (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) hit a two-run triple in the seventh and
Sean Szestowicki (Mount Royal, N.J./Kingsway Regional) hit a RBI double.
Zack Miles (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) singled in a run in the frame as well while
John DeMucci (Swarthmore, Pa./Msgr. Bonner & Prendie) hit a sacrifice fly.
But that was all the Golden Rams offense could muster. West Chester already trailed 11-0 when it put that inning together. Bloomsburg reliever, Josh Marquard, came on to finish up for Marshman, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings.
West Chester and Bloomsburg finish up their three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at Serpico Stadium beginning at noon.
