Softball Earns Easton/NFCA Team Academic Award; 15 Golden Rams Recognized as Scholar Athlete

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its 2022-23 Easton/NFCA Team GPA rankings and All-America Scholar-Athlete honors on Tuesday morning. West Chester was well represented, earning a spot on the team GPA list with a 3.4 team GPA for the 2022-23 year, while 15 Golden Rams earned Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

In order to be named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honoree, student-athletes must post a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year. Across Division II, West Chester was one of 99 programs honored by the Association with the Team Academic Award. At the same time, the 13 Golden Rams honored were part of the 1,790 DII student-athletes honored earlier this week.

West Chester enjoyed a resurgent season in 2023, returning to both the PSAC and NCAA Tournament after recording the most PSAC East wins (24-6) in program history and capturing its first PSAC East crown since 2019.

The 15 Golden Rams to receive Easton/NFCA Scholar All-American honors were Grace Aguilar (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest), Casey Best (Wilmington, Del./Concord), Gia Borelli (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson), Antonia Browning (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), Danielle Ciliberto (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon), Mairead Hopkins (West Chester, Pa./Rustin), Haleigh Karcher (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson), Cyd Keidaisch (Pottstown, Pa./Boyertown), Samantha Klug (East Norriton, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy), Brittany Lally (Howell, N.J./Freehold Township), Hailey Melvin (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca), Olivia Mock (Clifton, Va./Paul V), Abby Penjuke (Collegeville, Pa./Methatcton), Katelyn Rittenbaugh (Donaldson, Pa./Pine Grove), and Meg Wolfe (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove).
