SLIPPERY ROCK, PA – Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) scored twice, and
Mikenna Price (Henryville, Pa./Pocono Mtn. East) notched her first career goal, as visiting West Chester topped host Slippery Rock, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (5-2, 2-1 PSAC) opened up conference play on a high note with its first shutout of the season at the expense of Slippery Rock (2-5, 0-1).
Paige Wolfe (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) assisted on all three tallies for West Chester while goalkeepers
Emerie Loftis (Glen Allen, Va./Trinity Episcopal) and
Alina Burger (Koenigs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany) combined on the shutout. Loftis played the first 45 minutes and picked up the win in the cage to improve to 3-1 on the year.
Miller opened the scoring eight minutes in with a deflection on the right post of a shot from Wolfe. Price picked up her first college goal in the 26th minute when she blasted a shot past Rock goalkeeper Grace Burker. Miller added her ninth of the season and second of the game in the 32nd minute.
West Chester held Slippery Rock to just three shots, all on goal, and only one penalty corner opportunity in the shutout. Loftis made two saves, and Burger had the other.
The Golden Rams host Bloomsburg at Vonnie Gros Field on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
