LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its women's basketball weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and
Leah Johnson (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame) was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after more historic performances a week ago.
After becoming the first player in team history to record two triple-doubles in her career on January 27 against Mansfield and subsequently earning PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors, Johnson added to her growing list of accomplishments with three stellar games this week.
Johnson began her week with another outstanding performance against Millersville, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for her second triple-double in as many games, becoming the first player in DII women's basketball to record more than one triple-double in a single season since 2021-22 and the first PSAC player to do so since 2016-17. Johnson is also the first DII player to do so in back-to-back games since 2021-22. On Wednesday night at Bloomsburg, Johnson scored 15 points and finished with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals to help guide the Golden Rams past Bloomsburg. On Saturday against Lock Haven, Johnson helped West Chester hand the Bald Eagles their first PSAC loss of the year with 12 fourth-quarter points along with five assists, four rebounds, and a pair of steals. This 12-point effort moved Johnson past Dallas Ely for second in team history in scoring while also moving the veteran guard just 10 points shy of breaking the WCU career scoring record.
Johnson and the Golden Rams return to action on Wednesday evening at Shepherd beginning at 5:30 p.m.
