Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 3 West Chester Holds Off No. 14 Bentley, 14-11

WALTHAM, MA – Hannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) led West Chester with four goals as the Golden Rams hung on to defeat homestanding Bentley, 14-11, at soggy and windy Bentley Field Thursday afternoon.

West Chester (3-0) remained perfect on the season with a win in its first road test over Bentley (1-2). It was the first of two games that the Golden Rams will play in Massachusetts. They travel to Worcester, Mass., on Sunday to take on No. 21 Assumption University.

The good news was that West Chester outscored Bentley by an 8-2 margin in the second quarter to break open a tight 7-6 match. A run of five straight goals pushed the visitor's lead to 12-6, and that was too much of a hole to crawl out of for the Falcons.

The bad news was that Bentley very nearly did crawl out of that hole by limiting the Golden Rams to just two goals in the second half – one in each period. Meanwhile, the Falcons put up four tallies in the fourth to work their way back into the contest.

Jess Harrison (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre) registered a hat trick and collected one assist for a four-point afternoon. Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) posted a pair of goals and an assist as well.

Goalkeeper Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) had to be sharp in the cage and she was. The grad student turned back 10 shots on the day.

West Chester returns to action Sunday at Assumption for a 12 p.m. start at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.
