COMPLETE RESULTS

NEW HAVEN, PA – West Chester men opened the 2024-25 swim season with a 157-85 win on the road over Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon in Hutchinson Pool.

West Chester swimmers and divers claimed 11 first place medals out of the 13 events.

Boden Burkhart (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) and Tyler Czeiner (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone) each placed first and second off both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. Burkhart won the 1m dive with a score of 243.8 while Czeiner placed second (216.9). The two flipped spots off the 3m board with Czeiner winning with a score of 234.25 and Burkhart placing second (225.25).

The men's team witnessed four swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle register a time of 1 minute, 45 seconds. Four swimmers around 1:45 in the first meet of the season is an excellent showing. Aidan Falkish (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won the event with a 1:45.01 while Danny Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and Devin Metzger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) each tied for second with a 1:45.74. Christian Henry (York, Pa./Central York) was fourth with a 1:45.93. Metzger added a win in the 100 free later in the meet.

Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) won the 50 free in 21.40 seconds with teammate Joel Dunnigan (York, Pa./Dallastown) right behind him in 21.65. Fink also led off the 200 medley relay that took first place as well. West Chester swimmers swept the top three spots in the 1000 free. Jacob Texter (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) led the way with a time of 10:02.61 while Grant Schwalm (Dover, Del./Northeastern) was second (10:07.13) and Max Bachman (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was third.

Southern Connecticut State won the 400 individual medley. However, the Golden Rams claimed spots two thru four to pick up points with its depth. Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) was runner-up in a time of 4:10.01 while Ryan Lee (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) was third in 4:16.59 and Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) fourth in 4:19.03. Desclous won the 200 butterfly in 1:57.26 while Joel Dunnigan was second in 1:57.39. Nagy won the 200 backstroke with Fink and Chadd Corson (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) second and third, respectively. For Corson, it was his first time swimming that event.

West Chester saw seven different first-place finishers in the pool, along with the two divers, to display an awful lot of depth in the season-opening meet.

West Chester will compete in the PSAC Fall Frenzy and Fall Invitational next weekend in York, Pa.
