Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Sixth-Ranked West Chester Downs Bentley, 6-1

WEST CHESTER, PAJasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) and Adriana Palumbo (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) each scored a pair of goals, and Gianna Funari (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace) registered a pair of assists, as sixth-ranked West Chester defeated visiting Bentley, 6-1, on a beautiful afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.

West Chester (1-1) got into the win column for the first time while Bentley (0-1) was opening up its 2024 campaign in the Commonwealth.

The Golden Rams potted a pair of goals almost three minutes apart in the first quarter to jump on top of the Falcons right away. The hosts did not let up after that, limiting Bentley to just two shots the entire game.

Miller tipped in a shot from the top right side of the circle from Funari in the eighth minute of the contest. Palumbo added an uassisted tally three minutes later to make it 2-0 after one quarter. Palumbo potted another off an assist from Funari in the second quarter to give the Golden Rams a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Miller scored her second of the game in the third quarter, and Ella Shockley (Delmar, Del./Delmar) and Morgan Becker (West Chester, Pa./East) scored off penalty corners in the fourth to stake the home team to an insurmountable, 6-0 lead.

Bentley finally got on the board with just over one minute left in the game when Emma Halas finished off a pass from Gracie Moore.

Ryan Curley (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) wasn't called upon to do much in the cage Sunday. But, she did make one save to even her record at 1-1 on the year.
