NYU Too Much for West Chester Men’s Swim & Dive, 149-94

NEW YORK
Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) was a double winner in the pool while Boden Burkhart (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) won both boards. But, it was not enough as host NYU defeated visiting West Chester, 149-94, inside the Palladium Athletic Facility Saturday afternoon.
 
West Chester (1-1) performed well in the men's 1000-yard freestyle and the 200 butterfly, where Demesy and Nathan Noel (Destrehan, Pa./Destrehan) stood out. Demesy also won the 500 free in a time of 4 minutes, 40.57 seconds. His winning time in the 1000 free was 9:32.07. Noel's winning time in the 200 fly was 1:55.11.
 
Burkhart posted a winning score of 286.5 off the 1-meter springboard while amassing 291.75 off the 3m board to win that event. Michael Finlaw (Warrington, PA Central Bucks South) placed fourth in the 1m with a score of 229.13. He was fifth off the 3m board. Teammate Dominick Horning (Williamsport, PA Loyalsock) was fourth off the 3m board just ahead of Finlaw while placing fifth off the 1m board. Freshman Jed Alderfer (Plymouth Meeting, PA Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was sixth off both boards.
 
The Golden Rams' 400 medley relay squad was runner-up in the meet with a time of 3:27.55. The 200 free relay was also runner-up on the afternoon in 1:27.03.
 
In the 100 free, NYU's Pierce Downs edged West Chester's Till Schroeder (Wiesbaden, Germany) 47.21.
 
West Chester returns to action on Oct. 17 when they travel to Division I foe Lehigh University for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference meet.
