BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University men's tennis team returned to action on Thursday afternoon for the opening day of the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships at Bloomsburg University.
West Chester started its day in doubles action with two pairings on the courts of the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Thomaz Joly (Indaiatuba, Brazil/Colegio Saber) and
Alessandro Melotti (Hollywood, FL/NSU University School) dropped their first match as a doubles tandem by an 8-3 final to the duo of Keegan Kaunagaran and Mohamed Mostafa Moens of Fairmont State.
Ashton Bunch (Kingwood, Tx./iUniversity Prep) and
Juan Pablo Beirana Guzman (Morelia, Mx./Universidad Internacional Jefferson) found themselves on the wrong end of an 8-4 setback to the duo of Said Santin and Alessandro Perez from Bluefield State as well.
In singles play, Melotti dropped his match to Filippo Buffo of Davis & Elkins by a 7-5, 6-3 final, while Beirana Guzman dropped his match to Fabricio Sosa of Edinboro by a 6-0, 6-1 final.
