Last Time Out

West Chester was back in action last weekend, winning a four set battle against Kutztown 3-1 (25-19, 25-14, 26-28, 25-22) before dropping a five-set thriller against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, which was also Senior Day 3-2 (25-22, 27-29, 27-30, 25-21, 15-8). Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) and Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) led West Chester in kills on Saturday with 18 and 14, while also registering three and two blocks, respectively. Haines also picked up two aces in the Senior Day setback. This was the end of a strong weekend for Haines, which had seen her log 13 kills, two aces, and two blocks in the win over Kutztown, while Maeve Gallagher (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led the team in kills with 15.

Flock Talk

Haines leads West Chester in kills with 285, while Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) is second with 263, followed by Kwitchoff in third with 188. Kwitchoff remains first on the team in blocks with 72, while Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove) continues to lead the team in assists (923) and aces (47), while also ranking second in digs with 222. Elianna Freeman (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) leads the Golden Rams in digs with 263, while ranking second in assists with 71.

Playoffs Anyone?

West Chester clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament last weekend with its split against Kutztown and East Stroudsburg, and Lock Haven's two losses against Shippensburg and Shepherd. The Golden Rams hold a head-to-head tiebreak over Kutztown after sweeping the season series from the Golden Bears, meaning that even if Kutztown were to go 2-0 this weekend and WCU went 0-2, the Golden Rams should still earn the fourth and final playoff spot via tiebreak.

Road Warriors

West Chester will conclude its regular season away from home as the Golden Rams visit Bloomsburg and Lock Haven this weekend. West Chester enters the weekend with a record of 8-4 in matches away from Hollinger Field House.

Series History

West Chester is 9-2 all-time against Bloomsburg, including splits in the season series each of the last two seasons and a win over the Huskies in Hollinger earlier this season.

West Chester has a much deeper history with Lock Haven, entering play at 12-30 all-time against the Bald Eagles, although the Golden Rams have won four in a row and 12-of-14 since 2015, including a sweep of the Bald Eagles in Lock Haven.

Scouting Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg (8-18, 0-12) enters the weekend riding a four-game losing streak with its last win coming over Roberts Wesleyan by a 3-0 final in non-league play on October 26, which halted an 11-match losing streak. Bloomsburg is just 1-6 at home this year and 7-12 away from home, including a mark of 5-3 in neutral site matches.

Last weekend, Bloomsburg visited Shepherd on Friday night and Shippensburg on Saturday night, dropping both matches by 3-0 finals to remain winless in league action.

Marlee Johnson and Katie Kuehl are first and second on the team in kills with 260 and 229, while Erin Clark is first in assists with 554. Allison Saalfrank leads Bloomsburg in aces with 44, while Emily Gustie leads in digs with 245, with Saalfrank in second with 211. Sophie Wales leads the team in blocks with 45, followed by Lydia Worthing in second with 41.

Scouting Lock Haven

Lock Haven (8-18, 4-8) also enters the weekend on a four-match winless streak after four straight 3-1 losses on the road to East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Shippensburg, and Shepherd, effectively ending its PSAC Tournament aspirations. The Bald Eagles, who won their last match on October 26 over Wilmington by a 3-0 final as part of a three-match winning streak, will go for the season sweep of Millersville on Friday night after defeating the Marauders 3-0 in the first meeting earlier this season.

Maddie Mithcell and Gracelyn Wolzen are first and second on the team in kills with 336 and 221, while Madelyn Wagner leads the team in assists with 546. Natalie Acevedo is first on the team in aces with 36 and is second in digs with 268, trailing only Olivia Taylor and her 406 digs, while Avery Smith leads the team in blocks with 63.
