West Regular-Season Champ Gannon Tops West Chester in PSAC Quarterfinal, 3-0

ERIE, PA – West Division regular-season champion Gannon University swept West Chester, the fourth seed out of the East, by a 3-0 mark in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tuesday evening inside the Highmark Events Center by three identical scores of 25-20.

Gannon (23-6) advances to the PSAC Semifinals this coming weekend. West Chester (19-10) saw its 2025 campaign come to a close with the loss.

Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) led West Chester with nine kills. Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove) registered 23 assists. Maeve Gallagher (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) had six kills while CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) and Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) each posted five.

The Golden Rams hung in there with the Golden Knights in the opening set, falling by a score of 25-20. Lane recorded five kills in the first set while Brown notched four of her team-best 23 assists. However, the visitors mustered just a .162 hitting percentage in dropping the set.

West Chester started the second set strong, trading points with Gannon through the first 10 points and eventually opening an 11-10 advantage. Unfortunately, the Golden Knights went on an 8-2 run to wrestle back control, 18-13, before the Golden Rams called timeout. The visitors would not get any closer than three the rest of the way, dropping the set, 25-20.

West Chester vastly improved its hitting, posting a .241 percentage in the second set. However, the Golden Knights hit .345 to pull away midway through the set. Gannon's Sydney Wake posted 18 of her match and career-high 22 sets through the first two sets. She hit .405 over the three-set victory.

Another spirited start allowed the Golden Rams to jump out in front, 8-5, before the hosts called for a timeout to settle things down. From there, Gannon rode the right arm of Wake, who continued her hot streak to get the set level at 13-apiece.

West Chester pulled ahead, 18-15, just to see Gannon go on a 5-0 run to take control of the third set, 20-18.
