Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Scores Program Record 128 Points in 128-59 Victory over Immaculata

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Jaysean Williams (Bloomfield, Ct./The Patrick School) scored a career and game-high 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including three makes from beyond the arc as West Chester (4-1) defeated Immaculata (1-5) by a 128-59 final. West Chester set a new program record with 128 points, and the win is also thought to be the largest margin of victory in team history.

West Chester's 128 points are tied for the third-most points in a single game by a Division II program this season, matching Lynn's 128 points against Trinity (Florida) earlier this month on November 19. Anderson holds the lead for the most points in a single game in Division II men's basketball this season with 133 against Bob Jones on Monday night.

Williams was one of nine Golden Rams in double figures in the win, as four members of the starting five scored in double figures, as did five players off the bench. Ruben Rodriguez Jr. (Reading, Pa./Reading) led the starting five in scoring with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Dylan Blair (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) added 11, along with 10 points each from Gabe Moss (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) and Dinari Boykin (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley).

Off the bench, Williams led all scorers with his 17 points, while Gavin Dalen (Milford, Ohio/Milford) and Xavier Vann (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) scored 12 points each, along with 11 from Joe Sedora (York, Pennsylvania/Red Lion) and 10 from Luke Boyd (Somerton, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). Along with Williams, Dalen, Vann, and Sedora all set new career-highs offensively, while Boyd set a new season-high.

Thanks in part to its 65.1 % (28-of-43) effort from the field in the second half, West Chester shot 55.7 % (49-of-88) from the field in the victory, including a 4-for-18 (22.2 %) effort from beyond the arc. West Chester was also 26-of-36 (72.2 %) from the free-throw line.

West Chester ended the game with a 57-35 rebounding advantage, including a 20-9 edge on the offensive glass, which led to a 26-9 second-chance point advantage. West Chester also finished with a 78-22 lead in points in the paint and a 34-10 lead in turnovers, which resulted in a 40-10 lead in points off turnovers and helped a 32-9 lead in points off the break. The Golden Rams bench shone on Wednesday evening as head coach Damien Blair was able to go deep to his second unit and outscore the Mighty Mac bench by a 77-41 margin.

The Golden Rams used 14 different players in the victory, and 13 of those 14 players scored four or more points in the victory. Larenzo Jerkins (Chester, Pa./Neumann Goretti) will forever have his place with a footnote in Golden Ram history as the sophomore guard who finished with five points, hitting the free throw late in the second half, which gave West Chester a new program record for points in a game with 119.

Jerkins also led West Chester in rebounding with nine, while Blair led the team in rebounds with seven.

Immaculata shot just 22.2 % (6-of-27) from the field in the first half but shook off this cold start a bit in the second half, shooting 44.8 % (13-of-29) from the field, including a 4-for-13 (30.8 %) effort from the field as the Mighty Macs nearly doubled their first half scoring output with 36 second-half points after mustering just 23 in the opening 20 minutes.

Kevin Telesford and Jeremiah Alexander tied for the team lead in scoring for the Mighty Macs, scoring 10 points each, while Dylan Crews led the team in rebounding and assists with five rebounds and two assists, along with four points.
