KUTZTOWN, PA – West Chester University fought valiantly in the first half, but could not withstand No. 1 Kutztown's relentless pressure in the second half, falling 2-0 to the Golden Bears in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament.

West Chester (13-6) will have to wait until Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. to see if its season continues in the NCAA Tournament next weekend. Kutztown (19-0) advances to the PSAC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium.

Kutztown's Olivia Kirkpatrick opened the scoring by converting a penalty stroke early in the third quarter. Marissa Rice doubled the score a few minutes later to build a lead that the host Bears would not relinquish.

West Chester goalkeeper
Alina Burger (Koenigs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany) kept the Golden Rams in the contest as long as she could, including a stop of a penalty stroke attempted by All-American Erin Gonzalez in the second half. Burger finished with a career-high 12 saves - two more than her previous career high which was set on Tuesday in the quarterfinals against IUP. Burger stopped 22 of 24 shots in West Chester's two PSAC Tournament games.
Kutztown held a tremendous 21-6 advantage on penalty corners and a 22-6 margin on shots in the game.
