Box Score Buckhannon, WVA – Mateus DeVasconcellos (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) stretched his opponent to a tie-breaker set. However, the host West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats downed visiting West Chester, 7-0, in a non-league men's tennis match Saturday morning.
DeVasconcellos dropped a 6-3 decision to his opponent at fifth singles. But fought back for a 6-3 win in the second set, before dropping a 10-6 decision in the tie-breaker.
West Virginia Wesleyan (5-5) evened its record on the year with the victory. The Bobcats won all three doubles matches to take the one doubles point, before sweeping the six singles matches. DeVasconcellos was the only match to reach the tie-breaker for West Chester (0-10).
The men return to the courts on Tuesday at Univesity of the District of Columbia (UDC) for a 2 p.m. non-league match.
