WEST CHESTER, PA – Host West Chester ran out to a 5-0 lead quickly and never looked back en route to a 23-6 victory over visiting Bloomsburg in a women's lacrosse contest on Senior Day at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (11-0, 7-0 PSAC East) remained undefeated with its impressive showing against Bloomsburg (6-6, 2-5).
Senior midfielder
Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored eight goals and assisted on three others to lead the offensive attack.
Lila McMahon Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) added four goals and an assist, and
Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) also scored four times.
Senior
Nicolette Giordano (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), who entered the game with only two goals on the season, registered a hat trick and added five draw controls to her stat sheet. She turned in her top performance in purple & gold on her senior day.
Kendall Fortune and
Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) also scored a goal in the win while
Alexis Smallwood (Margate City, N.J./Ocean City) notched her first tally of the season and junior
Natalie Goldsmith (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) scored her first career goal from her defensive position.
Hannah Cornelius (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) started and played the first three quarters making three saves.
West Chester travels to Shippensburg on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest against the Raiders. That game is the first of a three-game road swing for the Golden Rams.
