BOWIE, Md.- After sweeping a tri-match at Goldey Beacom on Saturday, the West Chester University women's volleyball team (6-1) looks to improve to 7-1 on the young season when the team visits Bowie State (1-6) on Tuesday evening, beginning at 6 p.m.

West Chester improved to 6-1 on the year this weekend, dropping the opening match of the weekend in five sets against Molloy before sweeping a pair of matches in Delaware against Goldey-Beacom and St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. On Friday night in New York, West Chester found itself down 2-0 early but roared back to force a fifth set before a late run lifted the Lions to a 3-2 victory over the Golden Rams.
Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) led the team in kills in this match with a career-best 17, while
Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) added 12 of her own.
On Saturday in Delaware, West Chester made short work of both Goldey-Beacom and STAC, winning both matches by 3-0 finals. Against Goldey-Beacom, Lane led the team in kills once again with 14, while
Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) led the team in aces with three. Against STAC, Haines led the team in kills with 11, while
Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove) turned in yet another solid match with 29 assists and 11 digs.

Off to an excellent start to the season, West Chester is hitting .259 through its first seven matches with 287 kills and just 96 errors on 737 swings, while opponents hit just .101 (228-150-769).
After a pair of excellent weekends, Lane and Haines remain first and second on the team in kills with 74 and 64, respectively, while Brown is first in assists with 220, along with 63 digs, which is second best on the team. Lane and Richardson are tied for first on the team in aces with 10 each, while
Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) leads the team in blocks with 19, while Haines is close behind with 17 of her own.

Lane was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week in recognition of her outstanding play over the course of four matches (3-1) for the Golden Rams last week.
On the Road Again
Tuesday night's match will be the Golden Rams third straight match day and fourth match away from home after visiting Molloy on Friday night and Goldey-Beacom for a tri-match on Saturday.
Series History
Dating back to 2009, West Chester is a perfect 6-0 against Bowie State and has not dropped a set in any of these six victories. Tuesday night's matchup will be the Golden Rams' first visit to Bowie State under the tutelage of head coach
Kassie Bellaver.
Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State enters the weekend at 1-6 on the year after going 1-2 in Kutztown last weekend at Kutztown against the Golden Bears, California (Pa.), and Caldwell. The Bulldogs earned their first win of the season, five sets against Caldwell on Saturday afternoon, after starting the year 0-6, with four of those six setbacks coming in straight sets.
Bowie State heads into the weekend hitting .121 on the year with 222 kills and 130 errors on 761 attacks while also registering 47 blocks on the season. Nicole Taylor leads the Bulldogs in kills with 46, while ranking second on the team in blocks with 15. Trinity Loundmon is first on the team in assists with 82, while Taylor Johnson leads the team in both aces and digs with 14 and 89. Nina Edwards is first on the team in blocks with 25 rejections so far this season.
