WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a 4-2 road victory over Jefferson on Thursday afternoon to open the season, the West Chester University men's soccer team (1-0-0) is preparing for its first home game of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon when Holy Family (0-1-0) visits South Campus on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.

West Chester opened its season with a win for the third time in the last four seasons on Thursday at Jefferson, using a pair of first-half goals to take a 2-1 lead into the break that the Golden Rams would never relinquish.
Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) scored the first goal of the season off a feed from
Owen Slack (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) before Slack tallied a goal of his own to give West Chester a 2-0 lead. Jefferson cut the lead in half just before the break, but
Joseph Maxwell (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Dillon Barbieri (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) added second-half goals to stretch the lead to 4-1 late in the second half. The Rams mustered a final goal late in the second half, which cut the Golden Ram lead to 4-2, but this was as close as the Rams could get in the 4-2 setback on opening day.
Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) registered one save in his season debut to slow the Jefferson offense.
West Chester finished the game with a 21-6 lead in shots and an 8-3 lead in shots on goal. The Golden Rams also ended the game with a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.

West Chester is 14-4 vs Holy Family since 1991 and has won each of the last 12 meetings between the two non-league foes. West Chester has outscored the Tigers 44-8 over the course of these eight matchups dating back to a 1-0 setback in 2002.
