Men's Basketball Downs Kutztown, 93-68

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Anthony McCall (Philadelphia, Pa./ANC) led all scorers with 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and a 10-for-10 effort at the line as West Chester (11-4, 5-3) rolled to a 93-68 victory over Kutztown (4-8, 1-6) on Tuesday night in Hollinger Field House.

McCall was one of five Golden Rams in double figures as Jaysean Williams (Bloomfield, Ct./The Patrick School) poured in 14 off the bench, while Gabe Moss (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) and Dylan Blair (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) finished with 13 points each along with 11 from Ruben Rodriguez Jr. (Reading, Pa./Reading).

West Chester trailed for just 2:05 on Tuesday evening and led by as many as 26 in the waning moments of regulation as the Golden Rams shot 41.5 % (27-of-65) from the field, including an 8-for-23 (34.8 %) effort from beyond the arc, while also going 31-for-36 (86.1 %) at the free throw line in the victory.

A close game early with five ties and two lead changes through the early going, West Chester went on a 7-0 run, which eventually helped the Golden Rams take a 49-32 lead into the halftime break.

Led by 13 points from Blair and 10 from McCall, West Chester shot 48.5 % (16-of-33) from the field, including a 4-for-10 (40.0 %) effort from beyond the arc, while also going 13-for-15 (86.7 %) at the line.

Kutztown was led by nine points each from Jalen Bryant and Jordan Nkoa Abessolo as the visiting Golden Bears shot just 40.0 % (12-of-30) from the field, including a 3-for-10 (30.0 %) effort from behind the arc, while also going 5-for-8 (62.5 %) at the line.

West Chester scored 22 of its 49 first-half points in the paint and also got 10 points from its bench, led by eight early points from Williams, including a right-wing three in the late stages of the half.

Kutztown opened the second half on a 12-6 run, which saw the Golden Bears cut the Golden Rams' lead to 55-44 with under 15 minutes to play. Kutztown continued its comeback bid and got the West Chester lead down to seven (55-47) before the Golden Rams responded with a crucial 11-4 run, including a corner three by Williams to lead 66-51 with 11:37 to play.

West Chester stretched its lead to as many as 26 with under two minutes to play, overcoming an early second-half surge by Kutztown to roll to a 93-68 victory over the Golden Bears.

Jalen Bryant led Kutztown in scoring with 20 points, including 10 points at the free throw line, while Nkoa Abbessolo scored 14 points and came away with nine rebounds to nearly record a double-double.

Kutztown shot just 33.3 % (10-of-30) in the second half and finished the game shooting 36.7 % (22-of-60) from the field, while also going 4-for-18 (22.2 %) from three-point range and 20-for-29 (69.0 %) at the line.

West Chester ended the game with a 45-33 lead in rebounding and a 14-10 lead on the offensive glass, which resulted in a 14-4 lead in second-chance points and a 36-32 lead in points in the paint.

The homestanding Golden Rams also finished the game with a 17-12 lead in turnovers and a 19-11 lead in points off turnovers.

The 14 points from Williams led the West Chester bench in scoring as the Golden Rams' second unit outscored Kutztown's by a 30-20 margin in the dominant victory.
