BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University men's tennis team returned to action on Saturday afternoon at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Individual Regional Championships at the Burt Reese Tennis Center in Bloomsburg. The weekend schedule was adjusted earlier this week because of low temperatures to ensure matches would be played during the warmest parts of the day, so Saturday featured doubles competition, while Sunday will feature singles play.
The duo of
Thomaz Joly (Indaiatuba, Brazil/Colegio Saber) and
JP Beirana Guzman (Morelia, Mx./Universidad Internacional Jefferson) fell to the Charleston (W.V.) duo of Pottbecker/Lagger by an 8-3 final in the A draw round of 32. Joly and Beirana-Guzman wrapped up the day with a 6-1 victory over Edinboro in a consolation match.
In the "B" draw,
Alessandro Melotti (Hollywood, Fl./NSU University School) and
Francisco Moreno fell to the Bloomsburg duo of Mustea/Fink by a 6-4 final, while
