BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team returned to action on Saturday afternoon at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Individual Regional Championships at the Burt Reese Tennis Center in Bloomsburg. The weekend schedule was adjusted earlier this week because of low temperatures to ensure matches would be played during the warmest parts of the day, so Saturday featured doubles competition, while Sunday will feature singles play.
Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) and
Gracie Clark (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) won their opening doubles match by an 8-7 (7-3) final over the duo of Pozzobon/Hirzberger (West Virginia Wesleyan) to advance into the Round of 16 before falling to the duo of Calbay and Lu from IUP by an 8-4 final in the round of 16.
In the "B" draw,
Alexandra Cave (Greenmeadows Napier, New Zealand/Woodford House) and
Barbara Grimaldi (Miami, Fl./Doral Academy) won their quarterfinal matchup against the California duo of Sendra/Heacox by a 7-6 (7-3) final before falling to Lily Sierka and Lourdes Vallejo of Bloomsburg by a 6-1 final.
