Women's Volleyball Defeats Millersville, 3-0

Bellaver Earns 400th Win as Golden Rams Head Coach

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- The West Chester University women's volleyball team (10-15, 2-8) took to the road on Saturday afternoon to finish its season series with Millersville (6-17, 0-11). West Chester got back in the win column and gave head coach Kassie Bellaver her 400th career win at WCU as the Golden Rams head coach with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-20) victory over the Marauders.

Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) led West Chester in kills with 11, along with nine from Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) and Gwen Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) as West Chester halted a four-match losing streak with a convincing 3-0 win over the homestanding Marauders.

Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) led West Chester in assists with 33, while Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, TX./Jersey Village) led the Golden Rams in aces with four, along with three from Macey Baum (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove). Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) led West Chester in digs with 11, along with six each from Freeman and Richardson.

West Chester hit .265 (42-15-102) in the victory, including a .333 (13-5-24) effort in the first set as the Golden Rams raced out to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 first-set victory before capturing the second and third sets by 25-16 and 25-20 finals after hitting .258 (13-5-31) and .234 (16-5-47) in the second and third sets, respectively.

Holding a 2-0 lead heading into the third set, West Chester found itself in all too familiar territory in the third set, trailing 13-11 after an Alex Nava kill, but the Golden Rams responded with a 6-2 run to take a 17-15 lead before winning eight of the final 12 points of the match, led by three kills each by Richardson and Atkins to close out the 3-0 road victory.
