Women's Soccer Climbs to Second in Atlantic Region, Eighth Nationally in Latest NPI Rankings

Full Rankings
WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The West Chester University women's soccer team (13-1-1) climbed to second in the Atlantic Region and eighth nationally in the latest Division II women's soccer NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings as released by the NCAA on Monday afternoon.

The Golden Rams, who slipped to third in the region and 17th nationally a week ago, jumped back into the top-10 in the nation, in eighth place, while returning to second in the Atlantic Region, with an NPI of 61.069 and an adjusted record of 11-1-1. Fairmont State remains first with an NPI of 61.111, while Kutztown, whom West Chester will face off against on Wednesday afternoon in the regular-season finale on Rockwell Field, is third with an NPI of 60.931. Slippery Rock (58.921) and Frostburg State (57.479) round out the top five.

West Chester, who enters this week coming off wins over Shepherd and Shippensburg, is one of three PSAC teams in the top five and one of six in the top eight, as Gannon (57.390), Shepherd (54.835), and Millersville (54.687) are sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.

The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule, and quality of opponents.

Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.

Today's rankings are the start of daily releases by the NCAA, as rankings will be released Monday through Friday this week during the final week of the regular season.
